My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard..

DA6070C4-E435-4776-8C86-5A2D915EF575My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.. or girls.. or everybody who likes a good healthy milkshake! Because who doesn’t like a yummy milkshake as a treat or with lunch?

My favourite is definitely the ‘Cocoa Vibes’ as it’s rich and thick, and it’s chocolate.. duhh! But on a day with lots of sunshine I’d recommend the ‘Strawberry Flow’. So sweet and fruity, it’ll definitely add some extra sun rays to your day. Both without refined sugars, but with lots of goodness, 2 simple, but tasty milkshake recipes, I like to share with you. Let those Kelis vibes flow..

Vegolicious

13062695_1138691616174940_2127703093_oOk.. I just created the best brownies everrrrr.. You can thank me later! Brownies made with Vego chocolate! And for the people who don’t know Vego chocolate (shame on you, hehe..), it’s the best vegan chocolate of the world! Unfortunately they don’t sell them everywhere. You can easily get hold of them in London, but I know it’s not like that everywhere. So if you really can’t buy one, then you can replace the Vego chocolate with dark vegan chocolate instead. No worries, it’ll still be delicious!

I always find it reallt hard to make perfect brownies. They’re always too dry or it just looks like chocolate cake and let’s not mistake brownies for cake. Because brownies just need to be firm, gooey, sticky and very chocolaty at the same time! Now ladies and gentleman.. here it is:

Vegolicious

13078295_1138691612841607_595704311_oserves: 10-12

INGREDIENTS:
1 150gr Vego bar (or dark chocolate)
1 cup self raising flour
1 cup palm sugar
1 cup almond milk
1/2 cup (hazel)nuts
4 tbsp cocoa powder
4 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp agave nectar
1/2 tsp salt

INSTRUCTIONS:
-Preheat the oven to 180C.
-Break the Vego chocolate bar into pieces and melt it au bain marie. (Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan with simmering water and stir now and then until the chocolate is melted)
-Sieve the flour, cocoa powder and sugar into a mixing bowl and add the almond milk, coconut oil, agave nectar and salt.
-Mix everything together (preferably with an electric mixer) until it’s nice and smooth.
-Add the melted Vego chocolate and the nuts and give it another mix.
-Grease a baking tin(about 20x25cm) with a little coconut oil and poor in the mixture. Place t in the oven for about 20 minutes.
-Wait until it’s all cooled down before you cut it into squares.

Healthy treats

13120701_1142757872434981_702987562_oEverybody likes a treat! There is no doubt about that. But choosing good treats can sometimes be tricky. A lot of treats are full of refined sugar and additives you don’t want to put in your body. Now you can always choose whole foods of course. A nice juicy apple or some sweet gooey dates, they’re always good choices. Only sometimes you also want something different. Because you really want to treat yourself or because you just really crave chocolate. I mean, I know the feeling! That’s why I went to different stores to see which treats are actually healthy and very tasty at the same time. There are a lot of choices, even just in the supermarkets. You really don’t have to especially go to a health store. I hope you like it and it’s helpful for when you crave some treats and you’re in the middle of a Tesco supermarket.

13120947_1142757942434974_1524635512_oThe places I mostly go are Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Whole Foods Market, Portobello Wholefoods and Holland&Barret. All these treats you can find in these stores for sure.
I put together a list and I wrote down in which stores you can find them. It can happen not all branches have the same food available and also prices may vary. The price you see here is what I paid for it.

Tyrells Veg Crisps 40gr – Most supermarkets – £1,10
Crunchy Sweet potato Slices – Tesco – £1,05
Cashew Nuts 25gr -Tesco – £1,00
YoYo Bear Strawberry – Most supermarkets/Health stores – £0,63
Nakd Salted Caramel Nibbles -Most supermarkets/Health stores – £0,75
Nakd Cocoa Crunch – Most supermarkets/Health stores – £0,95
Raw Bite Peanut – Health stores – £1,79
Raw Bite Coconut – Health stores – £1,79
Beond Organic Apple Cinnamon Bar – Health stores – £0,99
Ombar 72% Raw Cocoa – Health stores – £1,99
Livia’s Raw Billionaire Bites – Whole Foods Market – £4,99

13106065_1142757899101645_1392086721_oNow I’m not telling you, you should eat these treats unlimited, but this is a selection of treats which only contain natural ingredients. So you can enjoy every bite!

Foolish Chocolate Mousse

12914801_1119013768142725_191588096_oAs it’s ‘April Fools Day’ today I thought it’ll be nice to trick the body a little bit. We’re going to make it believe it’s eating chocolate, but the truth is that it’ll be eating a mousse packed with potassium and other minerals and vitamins. Does that sound good? Then here we go..

Serves: 2

INGREDIENTS:
1 (medium) avocado
1 ripe banana
8-10 dates
2 tbsp (coconut) water
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp chia seed (soak 10 min in 2 tbsp water)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Blend all the ingredients until perfectly smooth. Divide into 2 little bowls or glasses, decorate with fresh berries and put it in the fridge for 2 hours.

Easter treats

IMG_7722Who likes chocolate? Hehe.. silly question! And thank God there are some define vegan brands who do not let us vegans miss out on Easter! Delicious Easter chocolate? Thank you MooFree! MooFree is one of my favourite brands anyway, and I especially like their tiny Bunnycomb bars(which are not only for Easter, but as there is a bunny on the front and it’s so tasty, I thought I put it on). Now I couldn’t be happier to find out they made an Easter egg of it! They definitely have outdone themselves with their Bunnycomb egg. It’s big, crunchy, creamy, yummy and so finished.. Oops! They also have plain eggs though, if you prefer that.

MooFree chocolate is made of rice milk and it’s almost all organic. Besides it’s vegan it’s also non-GMO and gluten free. And because they have their own factories, based in the UK, where they don’t manufacture any milk, gluten or soya it means the MooFree chocolate doesn’t even have traces of any of that. Can I hear a Hallelujah?!
The only thing I would like to see different is their packaging. Though the big Easter eggs are quite alright, the packaging of their bars look a bit cheap. I think if the packaging was a bit more down to earth, people would pay attention to it sooner. And it would match the taste of their really good chocolate, because that what it is.. really good chocolate! It’s even better than dairy chocolate if you ask me. Now do you want to see what else they have? Check the MooFree website!

Now there is also this other fun Easter shaped(bunny) dairy free milk chocolate. And I have to mention that the taste isn’t as good as MooFree chocolate, but it’s ok. It’s from the brand Choices. The brand also has big eggs for easter and some other chocolate choices and a lot of alternatives for white chocolate, but so far I only tried this bunny!

Have you tried any of these chocolates? Are you a big fan of MooFree too? Let’s talk chocolate! (PS: Can you spot me in the picture? Hehe..)
