Veggie Pret

I’m a little bit embarrassed that Veggie Pret is not a hotspot on my blog yet. Especially after going there. I was planning to go for breakfast, so I could have lunch at another hotspot, but as I came across Press the day I went, I had breakfast there. What meant my planning of that day was slightly different. I think it was meant to be, because this way I could have lunch at Veggie Pret and that was so good. I would have missed out if I went for breakfast for sure, as my lunch choice wasn’t really something I’d choose to have for breakfast. You must be curious what I had then, if I’m so excited about it. I’m a little flabbergasted myself that I had 3 of the tastiest things ever. So here we go..

Veggie Pret has a hot section too and they happened to have vegan Mac&Veg. It’s mac&cheese, but then with tomatoes, cauliflower and spinach. It is sooo good! The pasta is cooked perfectly, the cheese sauce is delicious (I can’t think of anything they could have done better), the cauliflower still had a bite and there was this crispy layer on top. It has the perfect temperature, so the taste was at its best. I really did enjoy every bite of it. As a dessert I chose the brownie.. and OMG! It’s sticky, chocolaty and it has a caramel layer in the middle. It’s exactly what you hope for when you bite into a brownie. It’s the best brownie I’ve ever had. Honestly! I drunk a turmeric latte (if you read the Press hotspot article, you understand that I did get what I wanted in the end!) with this, made with soy milk and it was perfect. I felt like eating at a super fancy restaurant. Veggie Pret is 100% vegetarian, but there are so many vegan options too. Lots of sandwiches, small meals, (chia seed) desserts, snacks and a range of juices and smoothies.

Veggie Pret is based in the middle of Soho. It’s a 5 min walk from Piccadilly Circus and 2 min walk from Oxford Street. It’s quite new and originally started as a pop up place, but it stayed (thank God!), because people loved it too much. This is why there was even a second Veggie Pret opened in Shoreditch a while ago. How great! I always loved Pret a Manger anyway, because of their yummy food, but Veggie Pret has its own menu. It’s all so fresh and super delicious. The staff is nice and the neighbourhood amazing (I mean, its Soho!). It’s a perfect spot to do some work too (in fact, I’m typing this right on the spot!), with good wifi.

Yorica

14374749_1242909819086452_269032890_oThis will probably be our last day of summer.. 3 days of 30 degrees and then the temperature will drop with 10 degrees! ‘Last day of summer’, is quite a romantic thing.. isn’t it? All the memories you have made over the sunny (ok it’s London, so it’s only fair to also mention the rainy days.. kissing in the rain maybe?) days. What is better than ending it with 30 degrees and some vegan ice cream or frozen yogurt? Exactly, nothing! I’m sure you can find some time to catch a bus and go to Soho. Because that is where ‘Yorica’ is. ‘Yorica’ is my favourite hotspot at the moment. They are not only 100% vegan, but their ice cream, frozen yogurt and shakes are also wheat, gluten, dairy, egg and nut free!! Also all the ingredients are 100% natural and from a sustainable source. I guess it can’t get any better. OMG!

14359733_1242909825753118_135261789_oThey only opened very recently and I just found out before I went on my holiday (for a month), so I had to wait.. but then when my brother came over as soon as I was back, we went to ‘Yorica’ on our last evening together. It couldn’t get any better!
You can choose a size and a lot of different toppings. We both went for large (duhh) and it was so hard to choose. Eventually I chose ‘Cookies and Cream’, ‘WowButter’ (this was def my favourite WOW!) and ‘Rose’, as I love roses. I wasn’t very good at choosing toppings, because there is so much to choose from. So I went for a lot.. haha.. brownies, oreo, popcorn and chocolates. It was hard to find any space to put it all on. Oops!
14374661_1242909812419786_944793031_oIt was deeeeeeeelicious! I must say that the rose was quite interesting. I liked it, but maybe not with the combination I chose. But it is definitely worth trying. The next time I’m going for the frozen yogurt, because I have a confession to make. I have never had frozen yogurt in my life. So I’m very curious about it.

‘Yorica’ is based in Soho. Wardour Street to be precise. It’s the same street where Vantra used to be. My number one vegan restaurant. They have a super cute, perfect little place and the staff is very friendly. Even though me and my brother came in quite late, they were still overly kind.

14329406_1242909815753119_556124669_oI’m super excited about this new hotspot and thrilled that it’s in London! I’m so happy to share it with you guys. This is a must go hotspot! What is also very cool.. they have really good opening hours. So I’m sure you can find some time to pop in today! Today they’re open from 12:00-00:00 (until  Saturday). On Sunday they’re open from 11:00-22:00 and from Mon-Wed from 12:00-22:00. Oh and check out their beautiful website!

Bibigo

13839860_1196352023742232_1159194431_oI heard a lot about the dish Bibimbap and it made me curious. Bibimbap is a dish from Korea and basically is rice with vegetables. You pour a nice sauce over it and all the flavours come together. It’s simple, but aren’t the simple dishes always the best? When I was on my way to the lovely Mildred’s restaurants one day, I walked past this Korean restaurant Bibigo and it looked so nice from the outside that I quickly looked at the menu. They had Bibimbap and I decided to test it the next time I was in Soho.

13839779_1196352047075563_1391173835_oIt’s a typical Asian restaurant and it looks nice and welcoming. What I really like is that the menu has pictures from every dish. This is so helpful for people who find it hard to make a decision. Also it just looks nice! Unfortunately there is not a lot of vegan on the menu, but you can order the Bibimbap with a soy sauce. Make sure you mention this, as the original sauce contains fish sauce. The portion isn’t super big, so in case you’re hungry or with more people, make sure you order some sides. Originally Bibimbap comes in a hot sizzling bowl, but you can also choose to have it in a normal bowl. As it was quite hot outside that day I decided to go for a normal bowl, but I’m sure I’d like to try one in one of those fancy hot bowls! Compared to the bowls I’ve seen before, I think this is quite a basic Bibimbap, but the veggies were fresh, the sauce perfect and it was very tasty.

13840460_1196352020408899_1715155209_oBecause the restaurants doesn’t have a lot of vegan options this might be a fun restaurant to go to with friends and family who are not vegan.
Bibigo has 2 locations in London, one in I went in Soho and one in Angel. Both restaurants give you the possibility of private dining. So if you have something to celebrate, this might be an original place to do it.

13839768_1196352040408897_1713276798_oThe Korean kitchen is a kitchen full of culture and has evolved over two thousand years. There is a lot of information about this on their website and I would recommend you to have a look.

Do you like the Asian kitchen? And are you ready to discover the Korean one? Let me know or show me on Instagram using #PlanetManel if you decide to go. Thank you! X
